Thought I'd stop in and say hello.

I live in Niagara, looking to buy my first Fiero. I'll be going to the show in Peoria, with any bit of luck, I'll be driving one there, if not, I'll try and scout out one when I get there.

My back story is, I've been a muscle car owner for many, many years but have had always an interest in the Fiero. Back in 1986 I went to the dealer to buy a brand new one. It was a 4 speed car, black, grey interior. The salesperson gave me the keys and I went out for a test drive. Driving the car, every time I tried to shift the car into 3rd when the RPM's were over 3500, the transmission would bind up and it wouldn't shift. Taking it back to the dealer the slick sales person explained to me, a muscle car owner, that this is a performance car and you need to shift it differently. Laughing inside, I explained to him it shouldn't do that. He then promised me (in writing) that if I bought the car, he would swap a 5 speed into it, which was coming out next year.

I never did buy the car, but since then, I've always had it in my mind to get back into one (not an 86, sry folks...lol) So now I'm in the hunt for an 88 T-top car, with a 5 speed. Of course I want a yellow one, but at this point, I'll take any colour.

So there you have it... on the forums, not a Fiero owner, YET.

As much as I like the Formulas, I'll be after a GT. There is a Formula T-Top car for sale right now on the auto-trader for a reasonable price... but I like the fastback look.

I've booked my room for the 35th show...looking forward to that and hopefully meeting up with some people from Ontario

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the purchase. GT's are nice but the rare 88 T-top CJB is worth it and to be stock yellow. Enjoy the car and drive it, I know the previous owner wouldn't just sell it to anyone off the street. Wanted to sell it to someone who will keep it stock and cared for.
