Post subject:  Hello

I am a new member as well as a new owner of a 85 GT with 4 speed manual that is 100% original, except for an updated radio. Only has 68,000KMS. It has been repainted as original paint faded. Living in Fisherville (near Port Dover) I had the pleasure of driving it before putting it away for winter. Unfortunately as pleasurable as my last drive was fun, I noticed it was just borderline overheating when I stopped to fill it up with gas. I forgot to turn on the AC as the previous owner has suggested. I look forward to driving it shortly here in the country on the many winding roads and who knows, maybe hook up with other members.
I am sure many if not all of the members on this site are well aware of this overheating problem and I am curious how you overcame the issue. I know the previous owner changed the thermostat, not sure if he purged it properly though. I am thinking about installing a manual rad fan switch and replacing the air intake aftermarket setup to the original airbox which came with the car.

Oh well, talk to you later,
Pat

Welcome!
The overheating issue - yep... Has the T-stat ever been replaced?
I will be putting in a 180deg stat along with a lower temp switch to help mine. The T-stats from PartSource and CrappyTire are just that - crappy, and will bend.
