Like the title says, looking for the best source for renting a truck with a trailer. The last time I rented a truck from U-Haul, and it did a great job, but they charge $0.49 a KM, so I would end up paying about $200 for the trip I need to take. I'm hoping to borrow a friend's truck, but that will probably cost me about $200 in gas because it's a Hemi guzzler..... Anybody have a place they know of with reasonable rates for a truck with a hitch? The car transport is no big deal, it's only $54 a day.

I think they charge KMs on the pickup trucks to keep the daily rate low (I think it was only $19.95 a day), and probably most rentals for the pickups are local, guys just wanting to quickly move stuff to the dump etc. rather than actual moves. Going to start calling around tomorrow and see what I can do. Discount has a panel van for $70 for the day with 200 free KM, if they have one with a hitch I'm in business :D

Oh shit! If it was closer on both ends I would have tried to help out but that's pretty much a full day and probably at least a tank and a half in my little pig towing something heavy like a car on a hauler.

Where about are you? I might need a hand at 4:30 just getting the trailer from Mississauga (Dixie/Matheson) to my place in Milton.

I'm in Cambridge, but 4:30 on a weeknight is a no/go for me (off work @ 5). I could help you with that but my guess is earliest on a weeknight would be about 6:30 give or take depending on traffic.

Thanks. I'm going to see if they will let me drop by and pay for the trailer and come pick it up around six. I won't have the truck until around 5:30 and they close at 5:00

Hopefully they let you do that. I know sometimes they like to verify the tow vehicle and it's equipment ratings, hopefully they don't hold you back though. It sounds like you'll be okay without me if you're getting your rental truck at that time becasue I can't get down any sooner than that, sorry.

If you do decide you need a hand let me know before I leave work at 5 because once it gets to the end of the work day if I don't have plans I tend to go MIA for at least an hour or two lol (gym, errands, work around the housem, etc.).

Just called U-Haul, and they said I can go and pay now and get the trailer at 6:00, so I should be good to go! Thanks for the offer, much appreciated.

Cheers,

Cameron
