Post subject:  Mechanic reccomendations in South-Western Ontario

When I got my Fiero, I took it to a local shop, talked to them about the coolant tubes and lift points, and had them do the safety certification.

However, my Dad has recently purchased a significantly nicer Fiero, which will probably need several post-storage steps taken (It's been in storage for a long, long time).

I'm thinking it might be better to take it to a shop with more Fiero experience. Does anybody have any recommendations for a good Fiero-friendly shop in South-Western Ontario? The closer to London the better.

Thanks,

Try getting a hold of Pete (PBJT) on Pennocks. He is a mechanic in London and knows these car really well.

I sent him a message on PFF. I received a second recomendation for him as well. Looks like he's at the Finch dealership here in town.

My Dad got the car home the other day, but it's got some issues I think we're going to try to fix before we take it in. He had to boost the car to get it on and off the trailer. We charged the battery, then started the car. Seemed to run fine, and the voltmeter went to 13V. A few minutes later we noticed the volt light was on, and the guage was at 0 (yet the engine still running).

It's also got some barn funk: A lovely combination of mothballs, pine tree fresheners, with just the slightest hint of mouse. The interior is in great condition visually -- no chewed holes or anything. But I think we're going to pull some of it apart, shampoo the carpets, etc. Just to be sure.

I'm off next week from work, and will be helping to clean out his garage and basement (partially self-serving. I don't have a garage at my house and need to stick my Fiero somewhere for the winter as well). I don't really want to start diving into his car without him, but I might try and do some basic diagnostics.

I'd say the alternator is pooched.
