Although not my setup (in storage), the copper tube in the pic is where I have a hose running from that location to the C500 connector. I've seen setups where this inlet doesn't appear to be present at all. I do though like this copper tubing idea ...

I'll take a peak at mine this weekend when I am at my shop. Engine is out of the car so it should be easy to figure ouy what I am doing.

I am using a factory tensioner from a Grand Prix GTP, with the aluminum elbows. not sure whos alternator bracket it is, my friend did the swap before I got the car.

Interesting that your belt is running a different path. I notice that there's not much of a wrap on the water pump nor as much on the alternator. Also, that your water pump would be running the opposite direct.

There isn't much rap, but I never have any cooling issues. Take a look again our water pump pulleys are rotating the same direction.

My setup may not be perfect, as the belt slightly rubs the bracket that the coolant passes through. It may eventually be a problem :)

Well my hose goes through where the copper line is, and it's been almost burned through at the bottom with no place to support it. Definitely going with a hard line come spring.

From what I understand/have done you need the following from the doner car:

engine, transmission, harness, computer, axles.

You want a fiero auto linkage cables/shifter, and mounts.

If the Riveria axles are the same size as the grand prix ones, you make a custom axle out of both sides plus the outer from a fiero manual, and then use a stock fiero auto axle on the other side.

you should be able to make the harness you need from the buick one with a bit of work. And you want to use Fiero mounts (ideally poly), with brackets to adapt to the new drivetrain.

I have the swap done in my car, but it was a manual and I am in the process of converting it to a 4t65hde.

It's funny, but I have been a die-hard manual fan from day one; even from a commuter perspective and yet, having so much fun with Formula 3800 auto setup, not sure I won't simply drop in the riviera drivetrain as it is. No flywheel balancing act/expense to deal with.

I'm a big drag racer, so for me the auto is the only solution to take the abuse, without spending a crap tonne on transmission and clutch.

I used to be a die hard manual fan, but in modern cars the auto's perform better (especially turbo cars which most are these days). And its really hard for me to pig an inferior performance option just because its fun.

Well, fortunately I have waaaay too much time on my hands and have found the F40 6-speed to be an option. $1k max so would not be breaking the bank. Handles up to 295 ft lbs so should be fine with the stock 3800 mill. Also gives me a spare 4-speed auto when I pull from Blondie.

So here's the plan (note: I should re-read my post and see if I've stayed the course)

Check compression on the Riviera before pulling her out
Accessories tear down, detailing and configuration
Make exhaust with uninstalled mill as is a little easier (I also have Blondie for measurements)
I'd like to add a few more aux gauges so a good time to figure those out (boost, oil pressure, oil temperature)
Electrical (again have Blondie to duplicate/fine-tune)

Now here's an interesting option. As I more or less have everything I'd need, it would be very "Garage-guy" to fire the mill up, configured, not in the car.

Finally, this mill is a straight swap for Blondie, which will now be nicely detailed.

So how is this "A new heart for Blu" ...

Well, I'd now have:
a tested wiring harness
an understanding of aux gauges additions
a block in need of a nice oil pan & detailing
Hopefully duplicated Motor-mounts which will sit the engine down so I don't have to grind the decklid
All waiting to be married to a 6-speed F40 I managed to procure successfully

So there's the plan, now to patiently wait for Saturday - Oh wait, I have to put the motorcycle back together :).

Lol nice plan.

Like I said an F40 6 spd wouldn't really work for me, I was already putting 360 Ft/lbs to the wheels, plan to get a bit more from intake/exhaust work, and then add a nice 125 shot of Nitrous :)
