What do you say about using Synthetic oil in the car? I can get a case of 12 bottles of oil for $115.00 . What grade can I use?

Fiero normally takes 5w30, with them being old and others high mileage, I've heard of people running 10w30 in them. As for synthetic, it all depends on the owner if he likes to use it. I've been running my 3400 swap on synthetic since I did the swap. Mind you the motor only had 27,000km at the time and the internals were very clean to begin with. I've seen some motors where it's completely black and caked up on the inside where it would be pointless to run synthetic.

I just switched my car to 10w30. I'm now running the Quaker State "Defy" oil in 10w30. It's a summer only car and this oil has a good reputation for older motors - it was also on sale so I figured it was worth a shot. It's a synthetic blend.

I tried full synthetic in the engine last year before storage, I don't know why but I didn't like it so much in the old car as I do in my newer cars. I just wasn't "feeling it". Hard to explain what I mean...

I hope one of those trottle bodies works out for you :-)

5 or 10 works just fine;
some folks on pff had reported growing leaks after switching to synthetic, as some of the old sludge was helping with the sealing....

personally, i just use regular old school oil but change it regularly; i do top up with synthetic if it ever needs it. no harm.
