I was out the other day checking things for the rear endlinks I got, and noticed I have a 2 pin (male end)wire just hanging around.
It's all gunked up, so been like that for quite some time. Just curious what it might be. Doesn't seem like it'd be able to go too far since it's stuck inside the wire loom.

It's a green and black wired connector, hanging off the back-side of the 4spd manual transmission.

Thoughts?

if you're an 86 4speed manual tranny and the wire runs along with the speedo sensor, it is reverse light switch for the 5 speed trannsmissions. 1986 is the only year that they have the reverse lights that can be controlled from inside the car and the engine compartment from what I've seen.

I'm thinking that's the wires for cars that came with the 5 speed for the reverse lights. IIRC, the '86 and up were wired for both 4 speed at the shift and 5 speed at the tranny.

OK, honest, I didn't see the first reply... time to get my eyes checked  :geek:

Okay, that's good to know.
At least it's nothing something that's needed unless I do a swap.

I do like how I can turn on my reverse lights without actually going into reverse. Helps with people driving with their highbeams behind.
