Hi Guys,

I have a questions for all you 3800 SC guys. I recently bought an 87 with a 1998 3800SCII and getting high revs at start up and crazy bouncy idle. Another strange thing that happens is, when I pop it out of great and am coasting and in neutral the revs stay high until I come to a full stop. When I've to a full stop the rev come down to around 1k and bounce up and down.

Any help on this would be great.

Also, does anyone have the alignment specs for an 87GT?

Thanks guys.

Hello Matt,
Where about do you live? I'd suggest you get someone with a tuner to look at your sensors to see what readings they are giving before replacing anything. I went through $1000 in parts on my GTP once to find out it was just my MAF sensor that went and didn't even throw a code. If it did, it would have been only $150

I know SBC has DHP tuner in the east end of durham, or a someone who really knows his stuff is Will (Overkill) on the grand Prix forums. He could probably give your car a complete tuning and tell you why your engine isn't happy.

Check for vacuum leak first, then check IAC function, then MAF sensor, then MAP sensor (if it has one), then fuel rail pressure, If it's not one of those things then it gets complicated from there. Good luck. I don't think I missed anything but I'm sure someone will correct me if I did.

Havent heard anything from Overkill. But I'll take it to a local shop and see if they can have a look at it.
