Tried my hand at header wrap for the first time today. All in all, didn't turn out too bad. One question, does anybody have any advice about how to keep the stuff from fraying?

why not just use the factory heatshields if you are sticking with the 3800 manifolds?

the stock heatshields are super common in any junk yard. You can get them for next to nothing and they work great. This would save you a ton of hassle

I plan on hitting the pick 'n' pull next weekend weather permitting, I'll keep my eye out for one.

Peter,

Did your neighbour Todd mention who he ran into at Mosport a few weeks back?

Swap is done and the car was running great, but then I broke my shifter cable while out for a spin last weekend. Waiting to see if Rodney is going to ship me a replacement under warranty, but haven't heard anything from him for a few days. In the meantime I got my Eibach springs in and am in the middle of putting on the rear struts I got from Rob. Hoping to get all the mechanical done before the snow flies so I can get it to my friend's shop for paint. I'm going to be doing all the prep work and he's just going to spray it for me. He's a really good paint guy so I know as long as I don't mess up the prep it's going to look great :)

header wrap will only last a season or two depending on a number of factors
for long lasting heat shields id go with some stainless exhaust tubing slit to form a half circle and affix it with a stainless hose clamp
i actually welded threaded bungs to my system to allow me to bolt the shields right on... remember to elongate the the holes in the
shields as your system and the stainless will expand at different rates and stainless has a higher expansion factor
