Going to be replacing my rear struts and coil springs (front and rear) in the not-to-distant future. Any recommendations on a spring compressor? Saw a couple at Princess Auto that were pretty cheap, but this is my first attempt at this, so not sure which are the right type of compressors to use. Also, could springs be powder coated, or would the flexing of the springs crack the coating and cause it to peel?

$25:

$35... Not sure this one would even work though:

I also have the cast set too ($25) and it's been used many times without issues.

I didn't know they were so cheap. I would've bought them many moons ago instead of pissing around with getting a loaner tool each time.

I guess a trip to Princess Auto is in order. Unfortunately the springs I ordered off eBay were cancelled. They said they were found to be faulty and it was their last set. Too bad, they were $20 cheaper than the next closest and offered free shipping to the US. Looks like if I get nailed for duty it's gonna cost me another $90-100 :(

Thanks, I'm going to wait then, no sense in paying full price if they're going on sale. I won't have the springs for a bit anyway.

Looks like they have a 3rd type that I hadn't seen the last time I looked. It's on sale starting tomorrow for $29.99, regular $49.99.
