My 1985's alternator is shot but since im buying a new one i was thinking about putting a alternator that would be found on a 1988 fiero, This option sounds better because by installing it the cooling tubes coming out of the trunk storage wall will no longer be needed also the hidden cooling unit can also be removed. my question is will any aftermarket 1988 model alternator fit on a 1985 motor. i was thinking about purchasing one from the fiero store, but would also like more options. thanks

many people have done this. The alternator fits in with no issues, you will have to change the connector for it though.

YES, there should be at least a couple of threads on this on the Pennock's Fiero forum. :D

I got mine off of ucpautoproducts on eBay, then picked up the pigtail from Napa.

1988 is the only year the Fiero had the C130 Alternator. The connector (Pigtail) is only has two wires for it. Make sure you get the 105A alternator

I've had a local shop around me rebuild these alternators for me, I've taken one from the 88-94 Cavalier or Sunfire and had them replace the mounting bracket with the proper one to fit the Fiero. The rebuild usually costs $100.
