Well I've put just over 500KM on my new build and I just had my 2nd shift cable break. I was using the rodney dickman select cable for shift because I'm running the 3800sc with an F23. rodney wouldn't honour warranty on the first one, so pretty sure I'm on my own again. I have 2 cables I bought from California Push-Pull, but they're not quite right for my setup. I'm hoping to get a hold of them tomorrow and see if they can ship me a new cable quickly. Until then, I'm dead in the water.....

If the California push pull cables are their F23 shift cables you can use them by using the original cable clamping point on the shifter instead of the new one for the select cables use.

I broke a cable end once, but after looking at how it's constructed you are better off fixing the cable you have than getting an new one. I replaced the broken plastic tubing with metal tubing. The cable is much stronger now. Better than new.

I got a new one from California Push-Pull. About $20 more than dickman's and worth it. Unfortunately that's the least of my worries now....
