What would be the best/easiest front brake upgrade? Anything a direct bolt up or an easy kit?
I'm starting to look into LeBaron and the GrandAM setups. Wanting to do just the fronts so I don't have to mess with the e-brake that I just fixed.
I'm also going to be scouting out for a Blazer/S10 - whichever one it is - brake booster to be switched in.

Not going anything outrageous like 'vette or custom, just better than stock.

I'm interested in doing the upgrade was well, and not ready to lose my parking brake, so we're in the same boat :D

Here's a link to a pretty detailed 'easiest brake conversion', but I'm not sure if it's the easiest I've even seen, but it doesn't look too bad with the exception of getting a machine shop to create the hubs from your old rotors.

Hi
The first upgrade i did was the LeBaron front and rear with a proportional valve. That was grate but wanted more front brakes so uprated to 13" vet rotors & calipers .
that was better .then i changed the booster to the s10 the best thing i did . This winter i put 13" rotors & calipers in the rear did not test them yet .
I will be selling the rear rotors & calipers and brackets soon .
But the best thing i did was the s10 booster made a biggest difference .If you go to this link you see some of what i have done

Thanks Leo

I haven't put the brakes as part of my spring rebuild in the budget... but think it needs to be done. Will at least have the rotors turned and a caliper service. Last brake service was about 8 years ago when I replaced everything. I'll also have everything apart in that area, so why not put back better things.

So let me get this straight...
- All require the stock rotors turned into hubs
- Beretta/GrandAM (85-89) brakes are a direct bolt up? - Same diameter(9"?), but vented
- LeBaron needs caliper brackets - 11 1/4" diameter, vented
- Corvette needs caliper brackets - 13" diameter

Anyone know of someone with front brackets to sell/make? Thinking I might go the LeBaron route.
Anyone know the specs of the FieroStore's vented brake setup? Is it comparable to the LeBaron?

Leo - Are your rears from the LeBaron conversion? Which calipers, and did the ebrake work? - might want dibs

The Fiero Store vented upgade package is the Grand Am set up.

Lebaron Upgrade:
Archie sells the complete kit for $1440 US I figured I could do it for $800 CDN (approx)

Front hubs need turning down to fit inside rotors
longer wheel studs installed
Caliper adapter brackets & spacers needed (talk to Coppertop, I recently had him look into cost of making me a couple of sets)
S-10 Master cylinder
S-10 Booster (if desired, I running stock booster right now and works fine)
S.S. brake lines (I recommend or order new front hoses to use in the rear because they are to short)
rear knuckles modded to fit new calipers.
Caddy rear calipers (79-85 eldorado)
S-10 4x4 front calipers (1996)
Lebaron rear rotors (4) from 1991 GTC model

My ebrake set-up
left & right rear cables from a 1988 pontiac 6000
2nd brake line clip (one that attaches the front line to the passenger rear)
Small peice of metal rod grooved on both sides to fit in the e-brake cable connector

The 6000 ebrake line on the passenger side is short, but both rear lines have a metal sleeve at the caliper side which I use to wrap a piece of wire to secure the lines in place and it prevents them from distorting under pressure. The metal rod is gooved to slip into the cable connectors and takes up the slack between the two lines.

Rock Auto Prices:

Caddy Calipers
AcDelco with Durastop pads (Organic) Right Rear: #18R792 $73.37
AcDelco with Durastop pads (Organic) Left Rear : #18R791 $73.37

S-10 Calipers
Wagner Thermo Quiet Semi-Metallic Front Right: #TQM25049 $26.54
Wagner Thermo Quiet Semi-Metallic Front Left : #TQM25048 $26.54

Rotors:
WAGNER # BD61950 $25.52 (4 needed)
(Partmans in Oshawa $34.28 each)

Big Bore Master M39646 $27.56

Dorman Wheel studs #610-323 $1.06 (10 needed $10.60)
(or $20+ from partsource special order)

E-brake cable
Dorman Left Rear #C93083 $11.34
Dorman Right Rear #C93082 $11.63
Dorman cable connector #21126 1.87

S.S. brake line Ebay $59.99 (local in scarborough) the end that goes into the metal bracket fastened to the frame need modding though. It's a generic end so I opened up the metal bracket some more to make it fit. If you want plug & play, but the Fiero store lines for $105 US

Caliper Adapters say $150 approx
machined hubs say $50 depending on shop

Hardware $20

Rough idea of whats involved & prices.
