Seven has a coolant issue coming from the lower intake (pooling). Also an oil pan that looks like it's taken a beating. I can of course change the lower intake gasket while still installed, but how difficult is the oil pan. Is it easier to drop the cradle? I'm planning on looking in the morning, but any insight would be appreciated. Oh and BTW, the certification process has become such that a coolant leak and a inoperable fuel gauge does not pass. What happened to the good old days when you could certify a car without an engine! No worries though, all part of the plan. I just didn't think I'd be doing it now. |

drop the starter jack the engine up and remove engine mount then support engine with piece of wood at cradle and then the pan will come off, it also helps to remove the oil level sensor in the side of the pan to help clear the oil pump pick up tube when dropping the pan. Not a very nice job to do but can be done with out pulling the engine |

OK, what you need to do is disconnect the fuel pump connector (yellow) . Then with a piece of wire, bridge the connection for the fuel gauge, it will reset the gauge back to Zero. Re connect the plug after and see if it goes back to the same condition. |

Saw the rear driver-side mount will be an issue, don't know though about the starter as does not seem to have any clearance issues. Is there another reason to drop it? |

removing the starter makes getting the bolts a little easier but also gives more room to move the pan around while pulling it down and away from the engine |

Do yourself a favor and buy the actual oil pan gasket, and not just RTV. Its basically built as a kind of baffle. I had the pleasure of taking off a pan that some jackass had tried to solve his issue with RTV and it was just a mess.... Kevin |

Gauge resets perfectly but upon connection to the existing sending unit - full full full. Picked up a clean tank and sending unit yesterday (from an 87). Sending unit for this new beast, tank for Blu as has the smaller one installed. Removed the tank tonight and ready for reinstalled tomorrow. |
