If anyone remembers this old topic Murphy couldn't have this luck Murphy struck for the last time with this motor! We did sort out the issues with the rebuild and finally had it running good for about 30,000km's so we though. I lost compression in cylinder 1, pulled the motor and it sat on a stand for two years. The whole idea of this motor at the time was to rebuild a Fiero to look completely stock because GM decide to close the doors on Pontiac. That car has long since retired now, but still wanted to see if the motor could be saved. Turns out that the re-ring kit I bought "Engine Tech", the piston rings were only ment for Engine Tech pistons  Cylinder ones top piston ring was in hand full of pieces, 2nd ring snapped in two. All other pistons top ring was also in two pieces. The piston are now garbage from too much "flutter" so I've given up on this $1000 paper weight.

So I have parts off this motor up for sale now:

set of heads that have been gasket matched & opened up. New valve stem seals on them and valves were ground down with valve compound by hand for no leaks (water tested)
lower, middle & upper intake also gasket matched
valve covers
T/B
water pump with metal impeller, have spare gasket for it.
oil pan (1st gen)
timing cover (1st gen)
regrind camshaft, sent it to match comp cams 262 profile. Stock is 396 lift, this one has 440 8-)
2 stock cams
distributor, cap & rotor
Ignition coil
88 crankshaft (internally balanced)
Y pipe with O2 sensor
1 new Victor Reinz head gasket
Victor Reinz upper gasket set
other assorted gaskets

Still have the block, but the bore would need to be oversized now, so thought I'd just throw it out unless someone wants to rebuild it again.

Also aero notchback rear bumper, passenger door skin & front fendor (86 SE)
