Well I finally got the news today that my engined is fucked. In need for a replacement. This may be the time to toss a 3800SC in it or just stick with a stock 2.8. Does anyone have any leads on either. The other thing is how should i be charged for someone to put either one in. My mechanic said for the 2.8 it would be around $1900. Didn't ask about a 3800.

If you've been thinking about going to a 3800, now is definitely the time to do it. I think the actual cost of installation would be about the same between the two motors, but the main difference in the cost will be the wiring harness and mounts. There are a few folks around that can help you out with that.

$1,900 was that including the engine if not I need to rethink my prices for engine swaps of $2,500 for the labour and me supplying the harness, PCM, mounts and all brackets needed. Dan

If you decide to go the 2.8 route, there is a guy selling a 2.8 attached to a 4-speed transmission on kijiji currently. Not my ad, just happened to see it.

I know of another who will be pulling his 2.8L later this spring/ early summer to swap in a bigger motor. He's already asked me if I know anyone looking for a motor and this one does run fine, he just wants a little more power in the car.

Woah..you mean I can give you a 3800sc engine and for 2500 bucks you fabricate, wire and install?.
If so my plan may have just changed.

The $1900 didn't include the engine and I actually just got a msg from my mechanic saying that if I did the swap it would be more then that. Closer to $2500-$3000

last 3400 we did, $2000 for the swap plus he supplied the motor.

Yep labour is $2500 and I supply the harness, mounts, brackets and every thing works when done.
